The role:

Reporting to the Proposition Development Manager, this exciting and rewarding opportunity will play a vital role in the ongoing development of our retail stores.

 

Primarily responsible for shaping and delivering projects that influence the in-store customer proposition, the successful applicant will have a number of additional key responsibilities whilst in this position.

 

Using a data and insight-led approach our Retail Development Manager will engage with stakeholders supporting the development of proposition and format briefs and will take the lead in managing projects from idea trial through to delivery. This will include keeping on top of project documentation from on-boarding through to post-investment review.

 

              Key responsibilities (Not limited to)

  • Manage the development of future focused formats and category visions.
  • Develop, define, and maintain all Micro Layout Principles by format for HRL stores.
  • Work with Retail Space Planners on optimising bay count for stores by analysing category performance on a quarterly basis.
  • Review the impact of completed innovation projects and how they have delivered on improving sales, profitability and/or efficiency.
  • Review commercial performance of the HRL Property Project Program on a 13, 26 and 52-week basis.
  • Communicate progress and results of proposition briefs to senior management in a clear and engaging way.
  • Apply learnings from HRL stores to guide and support Independent/BDP retailers optimise the sales and profitability of their retail space.

 

              Who are we looking for?

              Applicants must possess the following essential criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 three years’ retail experience in Store management/ Area Management/ Business development, Store Design or within a Category Management discipline.
  • The ability to effectively influence and work with other departmental teams and adapt quickly to changing demands and conditions.
  • Influence and judgement skills, and an ability to organise and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound commercial acumen and the ability to convert strategic plans into action.
  • Excellent communication skills written, verbal and visual.
  • Retail and customer focus with good awareness of the NI retail market.
  • Possession of a full, valid UK driving licence.
  • Ability to make occasional visits/business trips away from home.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • A third level qualification
  • Five years’ relevant experience
  • Evidenced retail or wholesale experience
  • Category Management knowledge
  • Experience in turning Consumer Insights into clear actions and plans
  • Analytical experience providing strong data-based analysis

This is a full-time permanent position working 36.5 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 8:45 - 4:45 and Friday 8:45 - 3:45. Flexibility is required with regards to hours of work.
