The opportunity:

Henderson Group Property are delighted to welcome applications for the rewarding position of a Space Planner to join them on a full-time permanent basis.

 

Space Planners within Henderson Group Property, play an integral role in the long-term category vision and execution of our category growth strategies. Our Space Planners own, develop, and execute all Category Strategies for SPAR/EUROSPAR covering ambient, fresh, and frozen.

 

Developing strong, trusted working relationships is a huge part of this role as the successful applicant will working closely with many of our company’s key teams including Proposition, Trading, Replenishment, Henderson Retail, Sales, Property colleagues and Suppliers.

 

Our Space Planners main objective is to develop Category Plans which are designed to ensure that our stores carry the optimum range to meet current consumer demand whilst maximizing sales, profit, and efficiency future opportunities.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced retail professional with excellent numerical skills, analytical ability, and sound Microsoft Excel knowledge to develop their career within one of NI’s top 100 companies.

 

Key Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Use product performance data and key insights from shopper & supplier research in the delivery of the optimum product mix and on shelf position by format type.
  • Develop close working relationships and ways of working with Trading Managers to deliver improvements in sales, profitability and/ or efficiency.
  • Agree commodity strategies by format with Trading Managers, using the principles of Drive/Hold/Squeeze and review micro layout principles to support category developments.
  • Manage, control and deliver the Category Review process within a group of categories across Ambient, Frozen & Fresh departments as per the Category Review plan.
  • Measure the impact of completed Category reviews and how they have delivered on improving sales, profitability and/ or efficiency. Taking corrective action as required.

 

What you will need to succeed:

Essential

  • A minimum of two years’ experience from within the FMCG sector from either a Category Management/Space Planning/Trading/ Trade Marketing or Merchandising discipline.
  • In depth experience working with Microsoft packages, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and work under pressure.
  • Self-determination.
  • Desire to take initiative.
  • Ability to think logically.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and other departmental teams.
  • A full valid UK driving licence and access to a car.

 

Desirable

  • Food Retail or wholesale experience.
  • Category Management knowledge.
  • Consumer Insights experience.
  • Qlik View/analytical experience.
  • Critical path planning experience.

This is a full-time permanent position working 36.5 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 8:45 - 4:45 and Friday 8:45 - 3:45. Flexibility is required with regards to hours of work.
