Developing talent is critical to the success of our business and something that is hugely important to us. When new team members join us we want them to develop and prosper within their role and build a highly successful career. As we continue to grow we work closely with schools, colleges and universities throughout the province, building strong working relationships and giving their students the opportunity to join us in various different ways. 

We have opportunities for school leavers, placement students and graduates seeking a genuine opportunity to build a lasting and rewarding career.

Logistics & Transport Apprenticeship Scheme

If you’re aged 16-24 and interested in a career in Warehousing & Transport and a promising future with one of Northern Ireland’s biggest employers, look no further!

Our Logistics Apprentices gain a broad overview of how a highly successful logistics operation works. They learn all about how our products get from suppliers to our customers’ shopping baskets,and work their way towards a Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage as well as gain qualifications in manual handling equipment.

Following the completion of the programme our apprentices get to decide whether they want to specialise in Warehouse or Transport. If they are interested in Driving, they have the opportunity to train on our ‘Warehouse to Wheels’ programme to become an HGV Driver* (subject to minimum age/service requirements). We also have opportunities for any ambitious managers-to-be through team-leading training and qualifications. 

What areas does our apprenticeship cover?

  • Picking and loading of customer orders
  • Stock levels and records
  • Scheduling and planning
  • Driver and delivery assistance
  • Operation of logistics equipment (e.g. pick-trucks, fork-lift trucks)
  • Health and safety in the logistics workplace
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Working within ambient, chilled, and freezer warehouse functions

Launched in 2019 the Henderson Business Experience Placements have one, primary focus.

“To develop today’s talent for the future”.

Available to 2nd year undergraduate students seeking a year long industrial placement, those who are successful in joining our program will complete a 12 month intensive learning program while being positioned within one of our key organisational departments.

Supported by senior leaders and business specialists throughout their placement, students will develop their business acumen and work place skills to the next level, preparing them perfectly to build a successful career in their chosen field.

Retail Graduate Management Trainee Programme

A highly rewarding and engaged programme designed for Graduates who are ready to begin building a successful career within one of the most fast paced and rewarding sectors

 After an induction within our central Retail Support office, our graduate trainees are allocated to their own Training Store where they receive immediate responsibility, combined with excellent on and off the job training gaining invaluable, hands-on experience to every facet of the store –  financial management, customer service, community engagement, merchandising, leading and inspiring your team…the role is exciting and diverse, with no two days the same! 

On successful completion of the initial training programme our Trainees progress to Assistant Store Manager and take up full responsibilities within the Store Management team. Their speed of progression to Store Manager and beyond will be entirely up to them and the results that they achieve. 

Our Graduate programme is due to open for applications in December 2022.
