A Look into the Role:
Based at our Dublin depot, the Driver Team Leader will continue in their own driving role while taking on an exciting extra responsibility, mentoring and supporting a team of 25-30 drivers. You’ll be a key point of contact, helping your team follow company processes, embrace new initiatives and consistently deliver first-class service to our customers.
What you’ll be doing
You will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of our ROI transport operation, helping to embed the high standards, service levels and ways of working that Henderson Foodservice is known for. Through strong leadership, operational support and a customer-first approach, you will help us continue to strengthen our presence within the ROI market and support our ambition of becoming the leading foodservice provider in the region. You will help build a high-performing, safety-focused and customer-driven driver team, supporting the onboarding and development of new drivers to ensure they are fully trained, compliant and equipped to deliver excellent service standards from day one, while providing ongoing coaching, mentoring and performance feedback to strengthen capability across the wider team.
The role will also involve supporting the day-to-day operational efficiency of the transport function through effective route planning, developing driver rotas, delegating runs and conducting daily driver briefings to ensure the operation is fully prepared for the day ahead. You will promote best practice across the team while identifying opportunities to improve service levels, reduce operational costs and drive efficiencies across the operation. You will also support loading activities, help manage overflow where required and ensure trailers are stripped, organised and operationally ready to support the smooth running of the depot.
You will help maintain full compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, Tachograph requirements and vehicle safety standards, while championing a strong health and safety culture across the team. In addition, you will support the rollout and adoption of new technologies and ways of working, helping drivers build confidence in operational systems and processes.
With a strong focus on teamwork, communication and customer service, you will act as a key link between drivers, management and customers, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, professionally and in line with business expectations. You may also support recovery work and provide operational assistance where required to help maintain service levels and minimise disruption across the network.
Skills for Success
Joining us as Driver Team Leader the minimum criteria you’ll need is:
• A valid in date Category B License.
• A minimum of 3 years’ multidrop driving experience within a fast-paced delivery environment
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience leading a team of at least 10 people.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of Fleet
• Efficient in the use of new technology, including Transend or similar handheld/EPOS devices
• Good geographic knowledge of Dublin and surrounding areas
• Knowledge of drivers’ hours regulations and tachograph legislation
• Experience in route planning and identifying operational efficiencies
• Experience supporting service levels and ensuring timely, efficient customer deliveries within a fast-paced multidrop operation
• Experience in delivering team briefs and operational updates

Desirable Criteria
• Hold a valid, in date current Category C licence
• Possess a valid, in date Driver Qualification Card (CPC up to date)
• Possess a Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous mentoring experience or demonstrable experience within a coaching or teaching environment
• Working knowledge of warehouse operations, particularly within a fast-paced cross-dock environment

Hours of Work
The successful applicants will have a core contract of 39 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7, job to finish and overtime as required.Start times between 3am and 4am daily, depending on business needs. Flexibility is required with regards to hours of work.
