A look into the role

 

Our placement opportunities are designed to develop today’s talent for the future. Students who obtain a place with us will complete a 12-month intensive learning program, supported by senior leaders and business specialists, positioned within one of our key organisational departments. ­­It is designed for a student who has completed their second-year undergraduate study and is seeking to gain valuable experience working in Industry before returning to University to complete their final year in 2026/2027.

 

The successful candidate will work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure fresh food products and suppliers meet Henderson Group specifications in relation to food safety, legality, quality, freshness, and sustainability. Maintaining a quality management system, you will focus on delivering customer satisfaction and continuous business improvement and support the continued development of the Group’s total quality management agenda with specific focus on fresh food.

 

 As Quality Auditor you will:

  • Control the required specification from own brand supply and the receiving standards from all suppliers.
  • Analyse and challenge supplier performance against KPI’s
  • Investigate and maintain a record of supplier non-conformances and corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Support New Product Development processes with specification design and supplier conformance targets and liaise with retail and wholesale customers on fresh food quality issues.
  • Responsibility for maintenance of management information and performance reports for the Trading and Operations teams to aid problem resolution and drive continual improvement actions.
  • Perform internal warehouse hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits to ensure high standards are met.
  • Benchmark product standards against specification and market equivalents.
  • Where appropriate, follow up complaints with suppliers and provide customer responses on incidents.
  • Assist (if relevant) on issuing alert notices for product recalls.
     

Skills for Success

 Joining us as Quality Auditor the minimum criteria you’ll need is: 

 

  • Working towards a relevant food related third level qualification.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene.
  • Full, current UK Driving License.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance expectations within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety system HACCP, GMP and hygiene standards.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office Packages.

The attributes you’ll need include:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

It is Desirable if you had: 

  • External allergen training.
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene.
  • HACCP Level 3.
  • Level 2 Internal Audit.
  • Previous experience within the Food Manufacturing Industry.
  • Previous experience in business improvement projects.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid and flexible working arrangement available.
