A look into the role 

Henderson Kitchen provide a broad range of freshly prepared meals exclusively for SPAR / EUROSPAR / VIVO and VIVO EXTRA under our own Kitchen brand.  ​ 

 

Head Chef, Carl Johannesson, and his team of professional Chefs and Cooks prepare and cook on site daily before the food is chilled, packed, sealed, labelled and distributed to our stores throughout Northern Ireland. The location is easy to reach (just off the A26 Ballymena to Antrim dual carriageway) so convenient for anyone from Antrim, Ballymena, Kells or Randalstown. Reporting directly to our Group Quality Assurance Manager the successful applicant will have responsibility for ensuring full compliance for food safety legislation, SALSA standards and customer codes of practice.

Working as Quality Auditor you will: 

  • Ensure that controls are in place to meet required standards for product safety, quality and legality.   
  • Ensure that Quality Systems & Policies throughout the site are maintained.  
  • Maintain HACCP systems for all processes to ensure product safety, quality and legality.  
  • Control documents for the Quality Management System.  
  • Check, archive and maintain all site documentation and due diligence records.  
  • Manage site pest control visits and make sure all visits are carried out effectively  
  • Co-ordinate taste panel samples and shelf life as required.  
  • Drive a continuous improvement approach to GMP, plant hygiene, personal hygiene and product quality issues in the Unit through internal audits and KPI reports.  
  • Investigate and respond to customer complaints   
  • To collect water, swabs and micro samples and trend results monthly or as required.. 
  • Promote a quality culture within the site by delivering training aimed at improving people’s awareness of quality systems and quality standards. 
  • Manage the supplier approval process and work with suppliers to reduce non-conformances. 

 

 

Skills for Success 

  

Joining us as a Quality Auditor the minimum criteria you’ll need is: 

  • A third level food related qualification 
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene 
  • Level 2 HACCP 
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance expectations within a food manufacturing environment.  
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 
  • Knowledge of food safety system HACCP, GMP and hygiene standards 
  • A full/valid UK/EU Driving Licence

  • Strong verbal and written communicator, capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  

It is not essential, but would be advantageous if you have: 

  • Previous experience within the Food Manufacturing Industry 
  • External allergen training 
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene  
  • HACCP Level 3 
  • Level 2 Internal Audit

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours are typically 7am-3pm Monday-Friday however there is some flexibility in terms of start times which can be further discussed at interview.
