A look into the role…

 

Working as Senior Architectural Technician, you will provide technical leadership, design coordination and quality assurance, ensuring that design outputs are accurate, compliant, buildable and aligned with Group standards from feasibility through to construction.

 

The role will act as a technical bridge between design and delivery, supporting the Design Manager while mentoring junior technicians and taking ownership of more complex or higher‑risk design elements.

 

This position will be suited to a candidate who wants to establish and develop their Design career within one of Northern Irelands leading property developers.

 

 

As Senior Architectural Technician, you will:

 

  • Play a lead role in co-ordinating the production of Architectural Designs and Technical Delivery, ensuring the production of accurate architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, and details) to support planning applications, building regulations submissions, and construction documentation.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and standards are met in all drawing work, including preparation of planning applications, and adherence to planning policy and UK building regulations.
  • Play a key role in supporting the preparation of designs for Feasibility and Option Studies for new build and capital projects, including major and minor works.
  • Carry out site surveys and visits, gathering accurate data to inform design and drawing work, and monitor construction progress where necessary.
  • Support and mentor team members, encouraging ongoing development.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share insights within the wider property team.



Skills for Success

 

 

Joining us as Senior Architectural Technician the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working as an Architectural/AutoCAD technician within construction or property environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, with demonstrable experience producing accurate, high-quality architectural drawings.
  • On-site experience monitoring construction works, identifying and reporting defects, and resolving technical and construction-related issues to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards and project requirements.
  • Strong understanding of building regulations, planning processes and construction methodology in Northern Ireland.
  • Ability to interpret technical reports and surveys and translate them into design responses.
  • Familiarity with UK Building Regulations, planning policy, and the planning application process
  • Proficiency using MS Office Packages
  • Full, current UK/EU Driving license, with access to own vehicle.

  • Problem-Solving: A knack for understanding, solving, and presenting solutions to Design and CAD-related challenges.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational abilities and capacity to manage workload effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and coaching skills.

 

 

It is desirable if you had:

 

  • Further or Higher Qualification in Architectural Technology, Construction, or Engineering.
  • Experience in retail, convenience or petrol forecourt developments
  • Experience supporting or coordinating junior technicians.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and design risk management.
  • Exposure to BIM or structured digital design workflows

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid working arrangement available.
